Here are some reasons why:

GAME RECAP

Raith Rovers vs. Partick Thistle

Early Setbacks Prove Costly as Jags Fall at Stark’s Park

Partick Thistle faced a tough test on the road against Raith Rovers, with an early goal setting the tone for a frustrating afternoon as the hosts secured a 3-0 victory.

The match got off to a disappointing start, with a loose ball in the box falling kindly for Finlay Pollock, who slotted past David Mitchell in just the seventh minute.

The Jags looked for a quick response, with Logan Chalmers and Scott Martin combining well down the right, but a crucial interception denied Aidan Fitzpatrick from close range. Thistle continued to push forward, winning a free kick on 20 minutes, but Lee Ashcroft’s header was deflected over.

Just as momentum was beginning to swing, Raith struck again, when a set-piece reached Dylan Easton, who sent a drive across goal, where Pollock was on hand to double the home side’s lead from close range.

Raith captain Scott Brown’s powerful effort rattled the post just before the break.

Second-Half Struggles

There were changes at the interval, introducing Robbie Crawford and Josh Reid to try and spark a comeback. Thistle came out with renewed intent, with Reid making an early impact defensively with Kyle Turner, Luke McBeth, and Don O’Reilly all making positional changes.

However, hopes of a fightback were dealt a blow just after the hour mark when Stuart Bannigan was penalised and Dylan Easton converted from the spot despite Mitchell getting a hand to it.

Despite late efforts, the Jags couldn’t find a way back into the match.

Full Time – Raith Rovers 3, Partick Thistle 0

Thistle now turn their attention to Airdrieonians at Firhill, where they’ll look to bounce back and reclaim their momentum in the Championship race.

The Championship Race

Match Recaps

Saturday, February 15th

Falkirk 2–2 Ayr United (FT)
A top-of-the-table clash saw Falkirk fight back from two goals down to salvage a vital point at home against title rivals Ayr United. Jay Henderson’s early penalty and a George Oakley strike put the visitors in control, but Liam Henderson’s goal just before halftime sparked a turnaround. Scott Arfield, netted his fourth goal in two games on returning to the club to secure the draw on returning to the club as Falkirk remain two points clear of the Honest Men.

Greenock Morton 2–2 Airdrieonians (FT)
Morton extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a resilient performance,as they come from behind twice to deny Airdrieonians a win. Ben Wilson’s early strike was canceled out by Nathan Shaw, and while Airdrie moved upfront, Jack Baird leveled things again.

Livingston FC 0–0 Dunfermline Athletic (FT)
Dunfermline slipped into the ninth spot after a gritty but ultimately frustrating goalless draw at Livingston. Jerome Prior made a crucial save to keep the home side from falling behind, and Tete Yengi squandered a stoppage-time chance to snatch all three points for Livi. The hosts remain in the title race, sitting four points off the top, while Dunfermline now sit behind Hamilton in the bottom half of the table

Queen’s Park 1–2 Hamilton Academical (FT)
Queen’s Park’s high from their Scottish Cup heroics was short-lived as Hamilton picked up an away win. Scott Robinson struck early on his debut before Ricki Lamie doubled the lead before the half. A second-half volley from Sean Welsh gave Queen’s Park hope, but they couldn’t find a leveler. The loss sees the Spiders drop to sixth, while Hamilton’s victory lifts them out of the relegation play-off spot to eighth.

Tuesday, February 18th

Greenock Morton 2–0 Hamilton Academical (FT)
Morton moved up to fifth place in the Scottish Championship with a comfortable victory over Hamilton Academical. Tomi Adeloye’s opener just before the half-hour mark set Dougie Imrie’s side on their way, and Arron Lyall added a second with 11 minutes remaining to seal the win.

The result extends Morton’s unbeaten streak to 11 league matches, and moves the Greenock side up to fifth.

With just weeks left in the season, every result is crucial.

Kit of the Week

Kit of the Week: The Kingsley Kit

This week, we're having a bit of fun with one of the most unique kits in football history— the Kingsley Kit, inspired by Partick Thistle's famous mascot, Kingsley.

The Kit:

A bold and unforgettable design featuring the unmistakable face of Kingsley—the Jags' instantly recognizable, slightly terrifying, yet beloved mascot. Paired with legendary tartan shorts, this kit was unlike anything seen before in Scottish football and it stayed unseen as Partick Thistle never played in it.

The Legacy:

Whether it's a conversation starter, a collector's item, or just a fun tribute to the club's quirky side, the Kingsley Kit is a reminder that football should always have room for personality, creativity, and a bit of mischief-just like Kingsley himself.
