EDINBURGH CITY
Edinburgh City vs. Partick Thistle
It’s the return of competitive football as Partick Thistle kick off the 2025/26 campaign under the Friday night lights in the capital.
The Jags travel to Meadowbank for the opening match of the Premier Sports Cup group stage, looking to make an early statement in Group B. With a full pre-season behind them and new faces ready to make their mark, Thistle will be aiming to hit the ground running.
Ahead of Friday night’s clash, we take a look back at our memorable away match back in July against Edinburgh City.
July 2024 – Edinburgh City 0–6 Partick Thistle
A second-half surge saw the Jags run away with things at Meadowbank, turning what looked like a tight Premier Sports Cup contest into a six goal win. Scott Robinson’s breakthrough just before the hour mark opened the floodgates, with Brian Graham, Harry Milne and Ricco Diack all on target in a blistering 21 minute spell. Late strikes credited to Wasiri Williams and Kyle Turner capped off a dominant display, sending Thistle top of the group in emphatic fashion.
Join the Red and Yellow Army at Meadowbank this Friday as the Jags kick off the new campaign

STUDENT SURVEYS
Student Surveys on Partick Thistle Women and Partick Thistle Heritage

As part of the club’s ongoing engagement with Strathclyde University Business School, there are two groups of students currently working on projects involving the Partick Thistle Women’s team as well as the Heritage Team who carry out a terrific job of charting the Jags’ near 150 year history.
The students are keen to enhance their studies with the views of club supporters and have created surveys that they would like members of the Thistle fanbase to complete.

Partick Thistle Women Players Update

HUGH PORTER
See the Jaggy Eagle Off

Fraser MacDonald is cycling from The Wyre Stadium Firhill to Crystal Palace’s Selhurst Park over 5 days starting on Maryhill Road this Monday, July 14th to remember and celebrate the life of his Partick Thistle supporting friend Hugh Porter (picture above) and also to raise money for Lymphoma Action.
Hugh was a passionate fan of Partick Thistle (getting married in the stadium in 2000) and he aligned himself with the community ethos that Thistle promotes whilst firming believing that football is for the people.
He was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma in 2019 however during the summer of lockdown that followed, he organised a bike ride around the football grounds of London to raise money for Lymphoma Action.
Thirty of his friends cycled with him and help raise over £25,000.
Hugh passed in January 2023 and the club were proud to post a tribute to him on their website which was written by his best friend Andy Breckenridge.
Fraser, who will be cheered on his way by the staff at the club on Monday morning at 9.15am and Red and Yellow Army supporters are welcome to join and also to contribute to the funds that are being raised for Lymphona Action.
