DUNFERMLINE

Dunfermline Athletic vs. Partick Thistle

The Jags hit the road this weekend as they travel to KDM Group East End Park for a pivotal Scottish Championship fixture against Dunfermline Athletic. With a play-off place still in sight and just three games remaining, every point is vital for Brian Graham and Mark Wilson’s men as they look to bounce back from last Saturday’s disappointment at home to Hamilton Academical.

Ahead of Saturday’s showdown, we take a look back at some memorable wins over the Pars.

November 2024 – Dunfermline Athletic 0–1 Partick Thistle
A gritty and well-earned win in Fife saw the Jags make it three straight victories at East End Park. After a cagey first half, Scott Robinson struck just before the hour mark—tapping home following a knockdown from Dan O’Reilly after a Kyle Turner free-kick. The result lifted Thistle into the promotion play-off spots and extended their unbeaten league run to five games.

December 2023 – Dunfermline Athletic 1–2 Partick Thistle
Harry Milne opened the scoring with a towering header before Brian Graham added a second just before the break. Despite a late set-piece goal from Matthew Todd, Thistle stood firm to claim all three points and close the gap on second-placed Dundee United. Another strong away performance at a ground where the Jags were beginning to make a habit of winning.

August 2021 – Dunfermline Athletic 0–3 Partick Thistle
A dominant Thistle display silenced the home crowd as Ross Docherty headed in before Kevin Holt did likewise for a second with Ross Graham scoring an own goal after the break. The Jags were resolute at the back, registering one of their most convincing away wins of the season. It marked the start of a strong run of form against the Pars under the Firhill lights.

Join the Red and Yellow Army on the road this Saturday as we head to East End Park for another crucial clash against the Pars!

GAME RECAP

Partick Thistle vs. Hamilton Academical

Graham Header Not Enough as Accies Punish First-Half Errors at Firhill

Partick Thistle’s grip on a play-off spot loosened but didn’t snap on Saturday evening, as two quickfire first-half goals saw Hamilton Academical leave The Wyre Stadium at Firhill with all three points in a 2-1 win.

With Stuart Bannigan suspended and Josh Reid absent, Ben Stanway and Aidan Fitzpatrick returned to the starting line-up as Thistle shifted to a 4-2-3-1 formation.

The Jags started brightly, pressing down both flanks but struggling to convert deliveries into real chances. Hamilton struck against the run of play midway through the half — a sliced clearance allowing Nikolay Todorov to volley the visitors in front.

Barely two minutes later, the lead was doubled. A poor Thistle set-piece led to a swift Accies break, with Dario Zanatta feeding Lewis Smith to finish calmly against his former club.

Brian Graham went close before the break, while Logan Chalmers threatened throughout, but Thistle couldn’t find a way through a stubborn Accies rearguard.

Academy graduate Liam Rooney made his senior debut on 70 minutes and nearly set up Graham with a teasing cross, but the skipper couldn’t connect at the back post.

Graham did get on the scoresheet in stoppage time, nodding home his 97th goal for the club from a Stevie Lawless cross — but it was too little, too late.

Full Time – Partick Thistle 1 Hamilton Academical 2

The result sees Thistle remain fourth, but with the gap to Raith Rovers now just two points. Up next: a trip to Fife for a crucial clash with Dunfermline Athletic at East End Park.

Match Recaps

Saturday, 12th April 2025

Ayr United 1–1 Falkirk
Falkirk had one hand on the Championship trophy before a dramatic late equaliser from Ethan Walker loosened that grip. Sean Mackie’s first-half screamer had the Bairns in control, but missed chances came back to haunt them as Walker bundled home in stoppage time — before being shown a second yellow and being dismissed. Ayr’s spirited showing keeps their own top-two hopes alive while Falkirk remain six points clear, but celebrations are delayed.

Queen’s Park 0–1 Dunfermline Athletic
A second-half strike from Chris Kane proved decisive at Hampden as Neil Lennon’s Dunfermline side picked up a priceless three points. The win lifts the Pars out of the relegation play-off zone on goal difference, while Queen’s Park slide into ninth with three games to go. It’s now six defeats in seven for the Spiders, who face a tense finish to the campaign.

Greenock Morton 1–2 Livingston
Livingston kept their faint title hopes alive with a hard-earned win at Cappielow. First-half goals from Cristian Montaño and Scott Pittman gave the visitors a cushion before Ali Crawford’s free-kick gave Morton hope. A late leveller for the hosts was chalked off for offside, allowing Livi to secure a valuable three points heading into the final stretch.

Raith Rovers 1–1 Airdrieonians
Raith edged closer to the top four but missed a chance to draw level on points with Thistle after a draw with ever improving Airdrie. Chris Mochrie gave the Diamonds the lead before Jamie Gullan levelled for the hosts just before the break. Despite second-half pressure, Rovers couldn’t find a winner and now sit two points behind the Jags. Airdrie remain at the bottom, five points from safety with nine to play for.
