ST. JOHNSTONE

Next Up: St. Johnstone vs Partick Thistle

Saturday 2 August | McDiarmid Park | 3:00 PM

A brand new Championship campaign begins in Perth as Partick Thistle make the trip north to face newly relegated St. Johnstone on opening day.

The Jags head into the 2025/26 season with fresh ambition and a strong pre-season behind them, looking to build early momentum against a Saints side eager to bounce back after a difficult Premiership campaign.

Mark Wilson’s men will be determined to lay down a marker, and a strong travelling Red and Yellow support will be right behind the boys as they kick off the new league season.

Thistle’s recent form against the Perth side will give fans plenty of encouragement, and with new faces looking to make their mark, it’s all to play for at McDiarmid Park.

Let’s take a look back at a memorable league meeting with St. Johnstone, a game to remember for the Jags faithful.

Ladbrokes Premiership | Saturday 27 January 2018 | McDiarmid Park, Perth

The Jags ended a long wait for an away league win in style with a cracking performance in Perth.

Steven Lawless opened the scoring inside ten minutes, lashing into the top corner after blistering build-up play from Miles Storey on the left. Conor Sammon, in red-hot form at the time, made it two midway through the second half, finishing off a square ball from Ryan Edwards.

St. Johnstone pulled one back through a Liam Craig penalty after Tomas Cerny brought down debutant David McMillan, but it wasn’t enough.

In the closing minutes, Edwards sealed the win with a sensational solo effort — bursting from his own half and slotting calmly under Zander Clark to send the travelling support into raptures.

A vital win at the time — and a performance full of grit and quality.

The stage is set for another chapter at McDiarmid Park. Join the Jags faithful this Saturday as we get the 2025/26 Championship season underway.

Let’s roar the boys on to a flying start in Perth!

JAGS FOUNDATION

A Strong Show of Support from the Men’s Squad!

This week, The Jags Foundation had the privilege of meeting with 26 members of the Men’s First Team and coaching staff at Firhill, following that morning’s training session. Led by TJF Board members Derek McLeish and Davie Brown, the session offered a chance to introduce the squad to the purpose and progress of the Foundation—and to explain how fan ownership is helping shape the future of Partick Thistle.

With several players already signed-up members, it was an open invitation for others to get involved and help us reach our Project 2000 target. The presentation was capably led by Derek, and the Management Team were positive in their reception throughout.

Head Coach Mark and Assistant Coach Alex approached us afterwards to express their support and enquire about upcoming social events, including An Evening with the Manager and next week’s Summer BBQ. Both were keen to attend if schedules allow, and we’ll follow up for final confirmation before sharing any details publicly. It’s encouraging to see the coaching staff actively engaging with supporters.

We’ll keep you updated—but for now, we’re grateful for the warm reception and renewed connection with the squad.

If you’d like to join The Jags Foundation and help shape the future of our club…
