AYR UNITED
NEXT UP: AYR UNITED AWAY AT SOMERSET PARK
Saturday 6th December | 3:00 PM (UK)
William Hill Championship
The Jags are back on league duty this weekend with a trip to Somerset Park, as Mark Wilson’s side look to keep their excellent run of form going and maintain the pressure at the summit of the Championship table.
Confidence is high, belief is growing, and the Red and Yellow Army will travel in numbers hoping for another big afternoon on the road.
Ayr may sit 11 points off top spot in the Championship however Somerset Park rarely offers an easy afternoon. The Honest Men will be eager to cut into that gap in front of their own crowd, and fixtures between these two sides always seem to come with edge, energy, and drama.
Thistle’s last visit to the ground came in the Premiership quarter-final play-offs in their last campaign in a game where Jamie Low made a huge impact on his debut by setting up Brian Graham to level the aggregate score at 1-1.
Graham then made a further impact with Thistle goal number 100 late on to send The Jags through to the play-off semi-finals.
This time out Thistle will be looking to carry over the intensity that has defined recent performances of this campaign. Players such as Aidan Fitzpatrick, Logan Chalmers, Ben Stanway, Tsa’nelo Lets’osa, Tony Watt and Alex Samuel are all hitting form at the right time, with depth across the squad improving week by week.
The belief within this group is real. The momentum is real. And another strong display on Saturday could prove vital in the race at the top.
Cup weeks, league weeks, it doesn’t matter right now. Thistle look hungry every time they take the pitch.
December starts with a big one. Bring on Somerset Park.

COVE RANGERS
NEXT UP (2): COVE RANGERS AWAY AT THE BALMORAL
Cove Rangers vs Partick Thistle
Tuesday 9th December | Time 7:45pm
KDM Evolution Trophy – Round of 32
The Jags turn their attention to cup action this week with a trip north to the Balmoral Stadium, where Mark Wilson’s side will look to keep momentum rolling and book their place in the next round of the KDM Evolution Trophy.
Confidence remains high throughout the squad, performances have carried real purpose in recent weeks, and the Red and Yellow Army will make the journey up the A90 hoping to witness another professional display on the road.
Cup or league, home or away — Thistle have been carrying themselves with intent, hunger, and belief. Tuesday night brings another opportunity to show it.
Cove Rangers 1–1 Partick Thistle – 3rd December 2022
Our previous visit to the Balmoral was a memorable one — and not just for the football.
After conceding early to a Mitch Megginson strike, the Jags battled through a frustrating afternoon, dominating the ball without carving out many clear chances. Ian McCall turned to the bench at the break, shifting shape and adding fresh legs, but Cove continued to threaten on the counter, forcing Jamie Sneddon into two big one-on-one stops to keep Thistle alive.
And then came the moment.
Deep into stoppage time, with 95 minutes on the clock, Stuart Bannigan whipped in a corner and Sneddon — up from the back — rose to meet it, glancing a perfect header into the far corner. Relief. Disbelief. Absolute carnage behind the goal as the Thistle fans celebrated the club’s first ever keeper scoring from open play.
A dramatic finish, a hard-earned point, and a moment still talked about today.
