GREENOCK MORTON
Greenock Morton vs. Partick Thistle
The Jags are gearing up for a massive Scottish Championship clash at Cappielow Park, supported by Dalrada Technology UK, as they take on Greenock Morton. With Thistle pushing hard for a promotion play-off place and Dougie Imre’s side doing likewise, here’s a look back at some memorable away days against Morton.
Partick Thistle moved into fourth place in the Scottish Championship with an impressive win over Greenock Morton. Robbie Muirhead had put the hosts ahead with a thunderous free-kick, but the Jags responded brilliantly. Stevie Lawless took advantage of some slack defending to level the score before Brian Graham’s quickfire double turned the game on its head. Substitute Tomi Adeloye sealed the victory late on, breaking clear to secure a dominant 4-1 win. Despite a late red card for Harry Milne, Thistle’s performance more than merited the three points.
The Jags secured a vital 2-1 win at Cappielow in an emotionally charged encounter just days after the passing of club owner Colin Weir. Alex Jones opened the scoring for Thistle, but Kyle Jacobs drew Morton level from the penalty spot. Thomas O’Ware’s well-taken finish restored the Jags’ advantage, and Ian McCall’s side held on for all three points. The victory was dedicated to Colin’s memory, making it a special and emotional triumph for everyone connected to the club.
Kris Doolan produced a masterclass to inspire the Jags to a commanding 3-0 win at Cappielow. The Thistle legend opened the scoring with a composed finish before doubling his tally by converting a superb Scott McDonald cross. Steven Anderson added a third, scrambling home from close range as Thistle cruised to victory. Despite a disallowed goal for Blair Spittal, Thistle’s dominance was never in question, and the result gave them a huge boost in their battle against relegation.

GAME RECAP
Partick Thistle vs. Raith Rovers
Jags Held to Stalemate Under the Firhill Lights
Partick Thistle battled out a goalless draw with Raith Rovers on Friday night as Friday Night Football returned to The Wyre Stadium at Firhill in front of the BBC Scotland cameras. The result left the Jags seven points clear of Greenock Morton in fifth, with Morton holding two games in hand. Raith leapfrogged Morton into fifth on goal difference.
Thistle’s plans were hit just forty-five minutes before kick-off when Kanayo Megwa was forced to pull out through injury, with Aidan Fitzpatrick was drafted in at short notice.
Raith started brightly, forcing Lewis Budinauckas into a sharp save from Callum Fordyce’s flicked headed effort following a Jamie Gullan free kick. Thistle responded well, with Logan Chalmers and Fitzpatrick delivering dangerous crosses from the wings. However, as the half wore on, the match grew scrappy, with neither side managing to seize control.
Thistle showed more attacking intent after the break and came close to breaking the deadlock just minutes into the second half. Kyle Turner’s corner found Brian Graham, but Raith keeper Josh Rae was equal to the header, making a superb stop. Rae was called into action again shortly after, tipping Robbie Crawford’s looping header over the bar as the Jags continued to pile on the pressure.
Despite Thistle’s dominance in the second half, a clinical finish eluded them. The Jags continued to press, with Raith pinned back in their own half for much of the closing stages. Thistle’s defence dealt well with Raith’s limited attacking efforts, with Dylan Easton unable to make an impact before being substituted late on.
Ultimately, it was a disciplined defensive display from the Jags but one lacking the decisive finish needed to secure all three points.
Full Time – Partick Thistle 0 Raith Rovers 0

Ayr United 1–1 Hamilton Academical
Ayr United’s title hopes took another blow as they were held to a frustrating draw at Somerset Park against relegation-battling Hamilton Academical. After a cagey first half, Hamilton struck first on 65 minutes when Oli Shaw nodded home from close range following a pinpoint cross from Steven Bradley. The visitors looked set to secure a crucial win, but Ayr refused to give in, and deep into stoppage time, Ethan Walker rescued a point for the hosts, firing in from close range to break Hamilton’s hearts. The result saw Ayr leapfrog Livingston into second place on goal difference, but they sit 11 points adrift of leaders Falkirk, having played a game more. Accies, meanwhile, edge further away from the relegation play-off spot but will be disappointed not to have seen out the win.
Greenock Morton 2–1 Queen’s Park
Greenock Morton boosted their play-off hopes with a determined victory over Queen’s Park at Cappielow. The hosts took the lead in the 20th minute when Owen Moffat slotted home a composed finish after a well-worked attacking move came back off the woodwork. Morton doubled their advantage on 64 minutes through Michael Garrity, who capitalised on poor defending to fire in from the edge of the box. Queen’s Park responded quickly, with Zak Rudden halving the deficit five minutes later after being set up by Kieran Hurst. However, Morton held firm under late pressure to secure all three points and move to within five points of fourth-placed Thistle. The Spiders, managerless since Callum Davidson’s dismissal, remain seventh, six points clear of Dunfermline in the relegation play-off spot.
Falkirk 2–0 Airdrieonians
Falkirk extended their lead at the top of the Championship to 11 points with a hard-fought victory over bottom side Airdrieonians. The Bairns were frustrated by a resilient Airdrie defence throughout the first half, but Calvin Miller eventually broke the deadlock on 61 minutes, pouncing on a loose ball to slot home from close range. Airdrie came close to an equaliser through Chris Mochrie, but Falkirk held their nerve. The points were sealed deep into injury time when Scott Arfield converted a 97th-minute penalty following a clumsy foul by Cade Melrose on Dylan Tait. While Falkirk look to march towards the title, Airdrieonians sit at the foot of the table.

Greenock Morton 3–3 Raith Rovers
Greenock Morton’s play-off ambitions suffered a setback as they were held to a dramatic 3–3 draw by Raith Rovers at Cappielow. The visitors flew out of the traps with Jamie Gullan scoring twice in the opening 20 minutes, first firing in from Scott Brown’s assist before converting a Lewis Vaughan delivery. Morton hit back on 31 minutes when Nathan Shaw produced a composed finish following good work from Cameron Ballantyne. Cameron Blues levelled things up on 63 minutes, combining with Grant Gillespie to fire home, before Tomi Adeloye’s header from a corner on 75 minutes put Morton ahead. However, their hopes of a fourth straight win were dashed when Aidan Connolly bundled in a 91st-minute equaliser to keep Raith just two points behind Morton in the battle for fifth place.
Livingston 1–0 Falkirk
Livingston kept their faint Championship title hopes alive with a late 1–0 victory over leaders Falkirk at the Set Fare Arena. In a cagey affair, neither side looked likely to break the deadlock until substitute Andrew Shinnie struck two minutes from time. Nicky Hogarth tipped Stephen Kelly’s free-kick onto the bar, but Shinnie reacted quickest to head home from close range. The win takes Livingston three points clear of Ayr United in third place and reduces Falkirk’s lead at the top to eight points, with the Lions having a game in hand.
