RAITH ROVERS

Next Up: Raith Rovers vs Partick Thistle

Saturday 25th October | Stark’s Park, Kirkcaldy | 3:00 PM

The Jags are back on the road this weekend as Mark Wilson’s men make the journey to Fife to face Raith Rovers in what promises to be another cracking William Hill Scottish Championship encounter.

Fresh from Tuesday night’s thrilling 2–1 win over Ayr United at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill, confidence is coursing through the Thistle camp. That victory extended the team’s unbeaten league run to ten matches and moved the Maryhill side level with St Johnstone at the top of the table. With momentum firmly on their side, the Red and Yellow Army will travel to Kirkcaldy in buoyant mood.

Wilson’s men have shown tremendous character in recent weeks, grinding out results when it mattered most. Tuesday’s comeback triumph was another example of the belief and togetherness running through the squad — with second-half goals from Ts’oanelo Lets’osa and Ben Stanway turning the game on its head in front of a jubilant home support.

The Jags will be out to maintain their unbeaten run and keep the pressure on the league leaders — while the hosts will be determined to make home advantage count and get back to winning ways after losing out in the Fife Derby with Dunfermline last Friday.

Backed by the travelling Red and Yellow Army, Wilson’s men will aim to bring their trademark attacking flair and defensive resilience to Stark’s Park and return to Glasgow with another vital three points.

The previous meeting between the sides back in August was a rollercoaster encounter that had everything — goals, drama, and a raucous Firhill crowd.

Tony Watt got the Jags off to a flyer inside seven minutes, finishing smartly after good work from Aidan Fitzpatrick. Fitzpatrick then turned scorer six minutes later, slotting home from Paddy Reading’s cross to double the advantage.

Raith rallied though, with Dylan Easton netting from the spot and Ross Matthews equalising before half-time to set up a tense second half.

Ultimately, it was Logan Chalmers who proved the difference — latching onto a Fitzpatrick delivery with 15 minutes to go to seal all three points for Thistle in front of 3,871 jubilant supporters.

SEVEN WEALTH

Ben McPherson voted Seven Wealth Player of the Month for September

With 37% of a tightly-contested combined vote, Ben McPherson has won the Seven Wealth Player of the Month award for September!

The on-loan Celtic full-back featured in three of the team’s four fixtures last month, only missing a cup tie against his parent club, and his contributions at both ends of the pitch caught the eye

“I’ve been thoroughly enjoying my time here at Thistle so far and to win Player of the Month is a great bonus so thanks to everyone who voted for me.

“September was a good month for the team with nine points from nine in the league and, even though I was gutted not to be able to play in the cup, I feel like I did well in the games I did play.

“This past week I’ve been away with Scotland and I’ve had a brilliant time. Training with the senior team was an unbelievable experience but now I just want to get stuck back into the club football and continue improving every week while helping the team get results.”
