ARBROATH

NEXT UP: ARBROATH AT GAYFIELD

Arbroath vs Partick Thistle | Saturday 13th December | 3:00 PM

The Jags return to league action with a trip to the North Sea coast, as Mark Wilson’s side head to Gayfield looking to keep pace at the top of the Championship table.
It’s been a season full of momentum, belief, and big performances, and the Red and Yellow Army will make the long journey up the A90 hoping to see that run continue.

BACK TO GAYFIELD

Arbroath are riding high following their promotion at the end of last season and Gayfield is never a comfortable venue, the wind, the pitch, the atmosphere, and a home side who fight for every blade of grass make it one of the toughest away days in the division.

The Red Lichties showed their quality in October’s meeting at Firhill, and with both clubs pushing to climb the table, this one promises to be just as competitive.

Thistle, meanwhile, arrive with confidence sky-high. Aidan Fitzpatrick, Logan Chalmers, Tony Watt, and Alex Samuel are all in strong form, while Wilson’s side continues to show depth, resilience, and the hunger of a team chasing something bigger.

The belief is real. The momentum is real. And another big performance on the road could prove crucial in the battle at the summit.

December continues — bring on Gayfield.

Our last meeting came at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill back in early October, where Thistle and Arbroath shared the points in a 1–1 draw.

Logan Chalmers fired Thistle ahead after just six minutes with a brilliant first-time finish following sharp link-up play from Fitzpatrick and Watt. The Jags pushed hard for a second, with Aidan McAdams producing several strong saves to keep the visitors in it.

Arbroath grew into the second half and levelled on 61 minutes through Finlay Marshall after a scramble in the box. Thistle had late chances to win it — Alex Samuel went inches away with a point-blank header, and Dan O’Reilly had an effort cleared off the line — but the winner wouldn’t come.

A hard-fought contest, plenty of chances, and another reminder that games between these two sides are rarely straightforward.

MANAGER RECOGNISED FOR SECOND MONTH IN A ROW

Two in Two as Mark Wilson is again selected as Glen’s Vodka Championship Manager of the Month

“I was delighted to pick up my first Glen’s Championship Manager of the Month Award last month and for a second one to arrive so quickly is fantastic.”

“As I said last month the Award is in my name, but it is a reflection on everyone at the club, especially the players who carry the burden and deserve the praise as much as anyone.”

“Along with my assistant Alex Rae we have worked hard at building a strong team spirit amongst the players and with everyone who supports them. I would like to thank everybody for the way they have come together over the recent months.”

Fitzpatrick’s recognition comes after an exciting month for the wide-man where he was played on both wings and involved in the creation of goals against Queen’s Park, Airdrie and St Johnstone as well as hitting the winner in his side’s 1-0 win over Dunfermline that drew them level on points with league leaders St Johnstone.
