ROSS COUNTY
Next Up: Partick Thistle vs Ross County
Saturday 18th October | Wyre Stadium at Firhill | 3:00 PM
The Jags return to the Wyre Stadium at Firhill this weekend as Mark Wilson’s side welcome Ross County in the latest round of the William Hill Scottish Championship.
After an impressive performance in Greenock last time out, Thistle will be looking to build on their strong run of form and continue their push at the top end of the table. Confidence is high in the camp, with the squad showing real balance and belief in recent weeks — both in attack and at the back.
The Wyre Stadium at Firhill has seen exciting games so far this season, and with the backing of the Red and Yellow Army once again behind them, Wilson’s men will be determined to make home advantage count against a Ross County side eager to climb away from the lower regions of the table.
County, meanwhile, are emerging from a difficult spell and will be a threat with plenty of experience and physical presence across their squad. The Staggies will arrive in Glasgow knowing they’ll need to be at their best to contain a Thistle side full of energy, creativity, and momentum.
The last meeting between the sides came at the Global Energy Stadium earlier this season, where Partick Thistle earned a superb 3–1 William Hill Championship victory on the road.
Ben Stanway opened the scoring midway through the first half with a spectacular strike before Logan Chalmers added a second shortly after the break, finishing off a fine team move. Although Ross County pulled one back through Connor Randall, the points were sealed deep into stoppage time when Steven Lawless converted from the spot after Declan Gallagher was penalised for handball.
It was a commanding performance from the Jags — full of determination, quality, and composure — and one they’ll be keen to replicate when the sides meet again at Firhill this weekend.

AYR UNITED
Next Up (2) Partick Thistle vs Ayr United
Tuesday 21st October | Wyre Stadium at Firhill | 7:45 PM
It’s a quick turnaround for the Jags as they remain at home following Saturday’s clash with Ross County, with Ayr United visiting The Wyre Stadium at Firhill under the lights next Tuesday evening.
Mark Wilson’s men will be aiming to continue their strong early-season form in what promises to be another exciting Championship encounter. With the side building rhythm and confidence, back-to-back home fixtures present a valuable opportunity to keep momentum rolling and strengthen Thistle’s position near the top of the table.
Ayr United, led by Scott Brown, will bring plenty of fight and experience to Maryhill and are always tricky opponents. But with the Red and Yellow Army behind them once again, the Jags will be targeting another big performance to round off a busy spell of fixtures in style.
Make sure you’re there to back the team — every voice counts as Thistle look to keep pushing forward in the Championship race.
The last meeting between the sides came at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill in the Premier Sports Cup, when Partick Thistle produced a composed and dominant display to claim a 2–0 victory and secure a place in the quarter-finals.
Daniel O’Reilly’s looping header broke the deadlock just before the interval, meeting a pinpoint Logan Chalmers corner to give the Jags a deserved lead. Moments later, Chalmers turned provider again, driving in from the left and firing low towards goal where a flick from Tony Watt took the ball beyond David Mitchell to double Thistle’s advantage before half-time.
The second half saw the hosts continue to dictate play, with Aidan Fitzpatrick and Tony Watt both going close as Mark Wilson’s side comfortably saw out the result. It was a performance full of energy, confidence, and attacking intent — a sign of the togetherness and belief that continues to grow within this Jags squad.

TJF
The Jags Foundation Twenty Fifth Pin is a bit special.

No wonder Jags legend and Hall-of-Famer John Hansen is smiling. Along with wee brother Alan he’s been immortalised as the subject of The Jags Foundation’s latest Limited Edition Thistle Pin. It’s their twenty-fifth.
Nicely timed too, with the anniversary of a certain League Cup Final win just around the corner. Trouncing Celtic 4-1 is a great moment in Partick Thistle’s past, but it’s initiatives like these Limited Edition Pins that help protect our future.
Along with TJF’s monthly membership subscriptions, they’ve helped our fans pledge more than half a million pounds to the Club since 2021. To get your Hansen Brothers pin, simply visit https://thejagsfoundation.co.uk/introducing-the-hansen-bros-pin TJF board members will be running a collection table in the foyer of the Colin Weir stand between 2pm and 2.45pm ahead of the Ross County match this Saturday and the forthcoming clash with Queens Park on November 1.
