ROSS COUNTY

Next Up: Ross County vs Partick Thistle

Saturday 26 July | Global Energy Stadium | 3:00 PM

It all comes down to this. The top two in Group B face off in Dingwall with qualification — and top spot — on the line. The Jags, perfect so far, take on a Ross County side sitting just two points behind after three matches.

Dan Cowie’s men boast the group’s best attacking record with 10 goals, but Thistle’s sturdy defence and efficient finishing have them narrowly ahead on points. A win, a draw, or a penalty kick success after a tie guarantees the Jags progression to the next round — and even if the worse happens, a strong goal difference keeps hope alive for one of the best runners-up spots.

The stakes are high, the margins fine, and the Jags support will be out in force once again to back the boys in their new away kit.

With everything to play for, let’s take a look back at our last meeting with Ross County in the Highlands.

Scottish Cup Fourth Round | Saturday 20 January 2024 | Global Energy Stadium, Dingwall

The Jags produced a stunning cup performance in the Highlands, sweeping aside Premiership outfit Ross County to reach the last 16.

Brian Graham opened the scoring on 36 minutes, poking home from close range after good work by Aidan Fitzpatrick. Scott Robinson doubled the lead just before the break, reacting quickest after Kerr McInroy’s shot was parried.

Stuart Bannigan put the tie beyond doubt early in the second half, thundering home a brilliant volley after a cleared corner. A commanding display — and a bit of revenge — in Dingwall.

Join the Red and Yellow Army in Dingwall this Saturday as the Jags aim to finish the group stage in style and seal top spot in Group B.
