LIVINGSTON

Livingston vs. Partick Thistle

It’s West Lothian on a Friday as the Jags hit the road for the final fixture of the regular season — with everything still to play for. A win will secure our place in the play-offs and keep the dream of promotion alive. Every tackle, every shot, and every ounce of effort will matter.

Brian Graham and Mark Wilson’s men know what’s at stake — and they’ll also know that Livingston’s patch has seen its share of famous Thistle away days before.

Ahead of Friday's showdown, we take a look back at some memorable away matches against the Lions.

November 2007 – Livingston 0–4 Partick Thistle
Thistle turned on the style at Almondvale, with Liam Buchanan running riot in a rampant 4–0 win. Scott Chaplain fired the Jags ahead early, before Buchanan’s pace and persistence doubled the lead before the break. Buchanan grabbed his second after latching onto a David Rowson flick, before turning provider late on — nodding into Mark Roberts’ path and striker sealed a four-star away performance. A clinical, confident display that left the travelling support in full voice.

February 2009 – Livingston 2–4 Partick Thistle
A breathless afternoon saw the Jags strike early and often to keep the pressure on at the top of the First Division. Gary Harkins converted from the penalty spot after Liam Buchanan was brought down, with Paul Paton and David Rowson making it three before half-time. Livingston threatened a comeback with a double from Leigh Griffiths, but Harkins' stunning free-kick into the top corner secured all three points in West Lothian.

September 2012 – Livingston 1–2 Partick Thistle
Steven Lawless was the hero as Jackie McNamara’s side dug deep to stay top of the table. A thunderous drive from 20 yards gave Thistle the lead before the break, and Lawless swept home his second just after the restart. Despite Livingston pulling one back, the Jags showed composure and resilience to see out a vital victory in their promotion push.

Join the Red and Yellow Army at Almondvale this Friday as the Jags battle for a play-off place — every voice will make a difference.

GAME RECAP

Partick Thistle vs. Falkirk

Partick Thistle delivered when it mattered most, overcoming adversity to seal a thrilling 2–1 win over Falkirk and take a huge step toward securing a play-off spot.

In front of a noisy crowd at Firhill, the Jags made the perfect start inside seven minutes. Aidan Fitzpatrick pounced on a defensive error, feeding Brian Graham who calmly slotted home to give Thistle an early lead. It set the tone for a frantic opening spell, with Thistle pressing high and forcing Falkirk into mistakes.

Falkirk eventually grew into the game and began to exert pressure, with the Jags backline putting their bodies on the line to preserve the advantage. Thistle survived a soft penalty shout when Dan O’Reilly tangled with Dylan Tait, but the momentum shifted dramatically on 35 minutes when Stuart Bannigan was shown a second yellow card — leaving Thistle down to ten men against the Bairns for a third time this season.

Falkirk capitalised before the break. After a superb save from David Mitchell denied Scott Arfield once, the midfielder made no mistake moments later, firing home from 15 yards following a goalmouth scramble.

After the interval, it was all hands on deck. The Jags dug deep, defending resiliently against a Falkirk side who had plenty of possession. Then, with just over 7 minutes to play, the tide turned again when Falkirk substitute Alfredo Agyeman was shown a straight red for a challenge on Robbie Crawford — levelling the sides at ten men each.

Spurred on by the Firhill crowd, Thistle found renewed belief in the closing stages. Deep into stoppage time, the breakthrough came. A set-piece was nodded at towards goal by Don O’Reilly, and Terry Ablade reacted quickest, nodding the ball over the line to spark wild celebrations and secure a massive three points.

Full Time – Partick Thistle 2 - Falkirk 1

The victory lifts Thistle three points clear of Raith Rovers in the race for the final play-off place, with one game remaining — the trip to Livingston next weekend.

Match Recaps

Saturday, 26th April 2025

Hamilton Academical 0–3 Livingston
Livingston kept their title hopes alive with a commanding win at New Douglas Park. Robbie Muirhead struck twice in the first half — including a confident penalty — before Tete Yengi added a third shortly after the break. The result takes Livi level on points with Falkirk heading into the final game, trailing only on goal difference.

Raith Rovers 1–1 Greenock Morton
Raith Rovers missed the chance to keep pace with Thistle after a frustrating draw at home. Grant Gillespie put Morton ahead from the spot, but Josh Mullin hit back ten minutes later. Despite late pressure, Rovers couldn’t find a winner and now sit two points behind Thistle with one to play.

Ayr United 2–2 Queen’s Park
Both sides traded goals in a lively draw at Somerset Park. Jamie Murphy gave Ayr the lead before Seb Drozd and Roddy MacGregor turned the match around for the visitors. Mark McKenzie equalised early in the second half to earn Ayr a point. Queen’s Park's safety is now virtually assured — barring any shock from Hamilton’s appeal.

Dunfermline Athletic 0–0 Airdrieonians
Dunfermline secured their Championship status with a goalless draw at East End Park. The point confirms survival for Neil Lennon’s side, while Airdrieonians remain in the relegation play-off spot and must now prepare for a two-legged battle to avoid the drop should Hamilton’s appeal be unsuccessful.
