GAME RECAP

Livingston vs. Partick Thistle

Friday 16th May 2025 – Set Fare Arena
Scottish Premiership Play-Off Semi-Final – Second Leg
(Aggregate: 4–0 to Livingston)

The curtain fell on Partick Thistle’s 2024/25 campaign under the West Lothian floodlights as the Jags bowed out of the Premiership play-offs following a 2–0 defeat at Livingston.

Trailing by two after the first leg, Thistle arrived at the Set Fare Arena with everything to do — and came flying out the traps. A switch to a 4-2-3-1 formation saw Ben Stanway return to midfield, while Stuart Bannigan turned back the clock to deputise at left-back for the first time since our 2012/13 title-winning campaign.

It was an encouraging start. Thistle found early joy down the right, with Stevie Lawless swinging in a teasing cross for Brian Graham — who was denied by Jérôme Prior before the offside flag was raised. Moments later, Graham tested the keeper again after good link-up from Aidan Fitzpatrick, while David Mitchell was called into action at the other end to deny Lewis Smith.

Just as the Jags looked to edge control, disaster struck as Livingston broke down the right — and Jamie Brandon beat Mitchell at the near post to give the home side the lead on the night.

Half Time – Livingston 1 Partick Thistle 0
(Agg: 3–0)

Livi made changes at the break with an eye on the final, however Thistle kept pushing. Fitzpatrick powered through midfield shortly after the restart, but his shot was comfortably blocked with Graham looking well placed to receive the pass.

On 66 minutes, any lingering hope was diminished further. Spotting Mitchell slightly off his line, substitute Stevie May hit a spectacular half-volley over the Thistle keeper and into the net — a goal that effectively sealed Livingston’s place in the final.

Graham came closest to a Jags reply, curling a free-kick just over the bar, but clear-cut chances were at a premium as the home side saw out the game.

There was, however, a final moment to savour. With just minutes remaining, 16-year-old Liam Dolan was introduced for his senior debut — a proud milestone for the young midfielder and another example of the club’s continued investment in the future.

As the full-time whistle blew on 90 minutes, the Red and Yellow Army were still in full voice — their unwavering support on a tough night a fitting end to a season filled with resilience, belief, and loyalty.

Full Time – Livingston 2 Partick Thistle 0
(Agg: 4–0 to Livingston)

Livingston progress to the Premiership play-off final, while the Jags prepare to reset, regroup and go again in the 2025/26 cinch Championship.

PTWFC

Brian Graham to step down as PTWFC Manager

last Sunday’s clash with Spartans at Ainslie Park marked the end of an era.

After nearly five years in charge, Brian Graham took the reins of Partick Thistle WFC for the final time, bringing an extraordinary chapter to a close.

Appointed in September 2020, Graham has overseen 161 matches, guided the team to the top flight, delivered two top-six finishes, and led the Jags to our first women’s cup final in over 50 years.

But his legacy stretches far beyond the stats.

Through passion, professionalism and tireless commitment, Brian has transformed the women’s side into a respected force within Scottish football — nurturing talent, inspiring progress, and bringing the women’s game to new audiences in red and yellow.

“We’ve been on quite the journey together… From my first night at Lochinch to now — cup finals, top-flight status — I’m immensely proud of what we’ve built,” said Brian, after informing the squad of his decision.

From everyone at Partick Thistle: thank you, Brian.
