A Look Back at Some Memorable Away Victories Over Queen’s Park

October 2024 – Scottish Championship: Queen’s Park 0–1 Partick Thistle
A battling performance saw Thistle claim Glasgow bragging rights with a hard-earned win at Hampden. Logan Chalmers’ first goal in red and yellow proved the difference, the winger reacting quickest in a goalmouth scramble to fire home inside 14 minutes. Brian Graham thought he had doubled the lead after powering through the Spiders’ defence, to head home only for the offside flag to deny him. A late push from the hosts was dealt with brilliantly by Myles Roberts and the Jags' backline, with three points secured as a result.

May 2023 – Premiership Play-Off Quarter-Final: Queen’s Park 0–4 Partick Thistle
A night to remember for the Red & Yellow Army in a game played out of Stenhousemuir’s Ochilview ground. The Jags put on a ruthless display to cruise into the play-off semifinal against Ayr, sealing an 8–3 aggregate victory over their Glasgow rivals. Brian Graham opened the scoring with a thunderous volley before Scott Tiffoney and Kevin Holt added to the tally before the break. Danny Mullen rounded things off with a late header, wrapping up a dominant second-leg performance to keep Thistle’s promotion dreams alive.

A nine-goal thriller at Hampden saw Thistle snatch victory with two last-minute goals in an unforgettable cup tie. The Spiders struck first through Lawrence Shankland before Taylor Sinclair levelled on 34 minutes. Christie Elliot put the Jags ahead before half-time, but Jamie Longworth’s strike after the restart brought Queen’s Park back level.

Chris Erskine restored Thistle’s lead, only for two quickfire goals from Tony Quinn and Ricky Little to put the hosts 4-3 up with five minutes to play. Just as extra time loomed, Stuart Bannigan struck in the 90th minute before Erskine grabbed a stunning last-gasp winner to seal a dramatic comeback.

GAME RECAP

Partick Thistle vs. Livingston

Jags Frustrated as Livingston Snatch Late Equaliser

Partick Thistle had to settle for a point under the Firhill lights as Livingston struck late to cancel out Brian Graham’s first-half opener.

The Jags started on the front foot, showing attacking intent down the flanks. After a lively opening spell, Logan Chalmers picked out Brian Graham with a pinpoint cross in the 25th minute, and the captain made no mistake, steering the ball home with a volley to put Thistle in front.

Graham came close to a second after the break, his powerful header crashing off the woodwork, before Scott Martin sent a long-range effort just wide. The Jags continued to ask questions of the Livingston defence, but a series of blocks and defensive clearances kept them at bay.

With just over ten minutes to play, Livingston found their equaliser. A deep ball into the box met the head of Robbie Muirhead, whose close-range effort looped over Lewis Budinauckas to level the match.

Thistle pushed forward in search of a late winner, and Ben Stanway had a chance inside the box, but his volley couldn’t find the target.

The draw sees the Jags remain in the play-off places, while Livingston edged closer to the top of the table.

Full Time – Partick Thistle 1, Livingston 1

Ayr United showcased a dominant performance at Somerset Park, overwhelming Airdrieonians with a 4-1 victory. George Oakley set the tone early, heading in his 16th goal of the season within six minutes. He later assisted George Stanger in heading home to double the Honest Men’s lead.

Jay Henderson's precise delivery allowed Curtis Main to net his first for the club at the near post and despite Ben Wilson converting a penalty for the visitors, Main sealed the win with a well-placed shot from 12 yards.

At KDM Group East End Park, Dunfermline Athletic mounted an impressive comeback to secure a 2-1 win over Greenock Morton. Owen Moffat gave Morton the lead with a stunning long-range strike. However, Chris Kane became the hero for the hosts, equalising from close range before driving in the winner, with pars captain Kyle Benedictus receiving a red card that has now been rescinded. This crucial victory narrowed the gap to eighth placed safety for Dunfermline, one point behind Hamilton Academical.

Queen's Park delivered a commanding performance at Stark's Park, defeating Raith Rovers 4-0. Zak Rudden opened the scoring with a precise finish, followed by goals from Adam Devine and Adam Montgomery shortly after halftime. Nikola Ujdur's close-range header sealed the emphatic win and elevated Queen's Park to fifth place, overtaking Raith Rovers on goal difference.

In a thrilling encounter at New Douglas Park, Hamilton Academical and Falkirk shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw. Liam Henderson headed Falkirk ahead, but Reghan Tumilty's long-range effort and Stuart McKinstry's angled finish turned the game in Hamilton's favor. However, Alfie Agyeman's stoppage-time strike ensured Falkirk remained atop the Championship.

Falkirk extended their lead at the top of the Championship with a convincing 3-0 victory over Airdrieonians at the Albert Bartlett Stadium. An early own goal from Aidan Wilson set the tone, followed by a fortunate cross-turned-goal from captain Brad Spencer. Substitute Barney Stewart added a third, capitalizing on a defensive lapse. This win kept Falkirk three points clear of Ayr United and four ahead of Livingston with the Lions playing on Wednesday.

Ayr United showcased resilience at Hampden Park, overturning a two-goal deficit to triumph 3-2 over Queen's Park.Second-half goals from Jack Turner and Zak Rudden put the hosts ahead, but Ayr responded emphatically. Marco Rus initiated the comeback, with Ben Dempsey and Curtis Main completing the turnaround. This victory returned Ayr United into second place, maintaining pressure on league leaders Falkirk.

Livingston and Raith Rovers shared the points in a hard-fought goalless draw at the Set Fare Arena. Christian Montano came closest for the hosts, firing over from 12 yards, while Finlay Pollock was denied by Jerome Prior at the other end.

Ryan McGowan thought he had won it late on for Livi, but his close-range finish was ruled out for offside. The result leaves Livingston three points off leaders Falkirk, level with Ayr United in second, while Raith move up to fifth, a point above Queen’s Park.

Kit of the Week - The Commemorative 1921 Kit

Kit of the Week: The Commemorative 1921 Kit

This week, we’re highlighting a truly special Jags strip—the 1921 Commemorative Kit, a March 2021 faithful recreation of the one worn when Partick Thistle lifted the Scottish Cup for the first and only time.

Drenched in history, the deep navy blue shirt mirrors the classic design sported by George Easton’s side at Celtic Park in 1921. The vintage Thistle crest, stitched on as it was back in the day, adds to the authenticity, with white shorts and navy socks completing the timeless look.

One of the standout features of this kit is its sponsor-free design, staying true to the original. A massive thanks was given to all our commercial partners at the time for their support in keeping this kit as historically accurate as possible.

This isn’t just a strip—it’s a celebration of one of the greatest moments in Partick Thistle history. Whether you’ve seen it worn on the pitch or just admired it from afar, there’s no denying the class and tradition stitched into every detail of this iconic jersey.
