GAME RECAP

Falkirk vs. Partick Thistle

Battling Start Turns to Frustration as Jags Fall to Falkirk

Partick Thistle showed early fight at The Falkirk Stadium, coming from behind to the lead in a fast-paced first half, however, playing with just ten men for nearly an hour proved too big a hurdle as they fell 5-2 to the hosts.

The match got off to a disappointing start, with Scott Arfield capitalising on a loose ball at the edge of the box to put Falkirk ahead.

Thistle, however, responded immediately and in style. In the 10th minute, Terry Ablade delivered a stunning through ball to Logan Chalmers, who coolly drilled home in front of the traveling Jags support.

Momentum swung in the visitors’ favour when Brian Graham got on the end of a Chalmers cross, flicking it home from close range to give the Jags a 2-1 lead in the 25th minute.

The match turned again when Falkirk equalised after a rebound from a saved penalty by David Mitchell with Gary Oliver reacting quickest, and moments later, Graham was harshly sent off for a second yellow.

The momentum was now with the Bairns, with Arfield making it 3-2 before the 45-minute whistle.

Despite their efforts, the Jags could not get back into the game, and a second penalty secured Arfield a hat-trick that put the hosts further ahead before a late header from Leon McCann sealed the result.

Thistle battled until the final whistle, with Mitchell also making key saves, but Falkirk’s extra-man advantage proved decisive.

Full Time – Falkirk 5, Partick Thistle 2

The Jags now shift focus to Raith Rovers, looking to bounce back and get back on track in the Championship race.

Iconic Kit of the Week

Kit of the Week: The Jags Foundation Kit

Your choice to own a piece of history with the Kit of the week - The iconic Jags Foundation official 4th kit

This week we are looking at the most recent addition to the long list of Partick Thistle kits throughout the club’s history, the TJF kit worn by both the Men’s and Women’s first teams for one off matches last month.

The kit - A classic red and yellow striped design with a retro black Thistle badge for that classic feel.

The significance - The kit, exclusive to Foundation members contained the name of every TJF member who purchased the top. Additionally, the kit was a key part of TJF takeover days, which were enjoyed by Foundation members.

The legacy - The kit can still be spotted round Firhill and Petershill on match days, donned by Foundation members. The legacy also lives on, with TJF members now having the chance to bid for the match worn official 4th jerseys of six players via an online auction available now!

If you are a TJF member interested in bidding on a piece of Thistle history you can find out more here!
