JIMMY BONE

Jimmy Bone - A Team-mate’s Tribute

Denis McQuade (left) alongside fellow 1971 League Cup heroes Alan Rough, Alex Rae, Jimmy Bone and Bobby Lawrie

Written by Denis McQuade:

“This is indeed a sad time for anyone whose life intertwined with my friend and teammate Jimmy Bone.

I’ll leave it to others to detail Jimmy’s long and successful career in football as a player, manager and coach. But suffice it to say that it is a career which any young person approaching the game would be excited to accomplish.

It’s my privilege to share with you what I observed during and after the years that our football careers crossed in the early seventies.

AIDREIONIANS

Next Up: Partick Thistle vs Airdrieonians

Friday 12 September | Wyre Stadium at Firhill | 7:45 PM

The Jags are back under the Firhill lights this Friday evening as the William Hill Scottish Championship rolls on, with Airdrieonians the visitors to Maryhill.

Mark Wilson’s side head into the fixture aiming to build on strong early-season form, with the Red and Yellow Army once again set to play a vital role in driving the team forward. With another chance to climb the table and keep momentum building, Thistle will be targeting another big performance in front of the home support.

Second bottom Airdrie, now under the guidance of former Partick Thistle captain Danny Lennon, remain a side capable of asking questions and will be determined to make life difficult for the Jags in what promises to be another competitive Championship encounter.

Scottish Championship | Albert Bartlett Stadium, Airdrie

The last meeting between the sides saw Thistle take full control at the Excelsior, with a dominant first-half display sealing the points. Captain Brian Graham netted his 90th goal for the club on 37 minutes, finishing neatly from Logan Chalmers’ cross, before Dan O’Reilly headed home his first Jags goal just six minutes later.

Despite some second-half pressure from Airdrie, including Adam Frizzell striking the crossbar, Thistle stood firm to secure a valuable away victory and keep the pressure on the promotion places.

HOSPITALITY

Friday Night is Curry Night!

Partick Thistle take on Airdrieonians, who are now managed by former Jags captain Danny Lennon, at the Wyre Stadium at Firhill tomorrow night, and we are delighted to provide details of our sparkling Hospitality offering against the Diamonds.

For this floodlight fixture we are offering a free drink on arrival, with doors to the Alan Rough Lounge in the Jackie Husband Stand opening at 5.00pm, before you are served with a one-course curry meal.

A member of the Men’s First Team Coaching staff will be on hand before kick-off to go through their thoughts on tackling Airdrie with the world’s greatest mascot Kingsley like to pop in at any time and cause some mayhem.

Just before the first whistle our guests will take their place in one of the padded seats in Jackie Husband Stand before returning to the Alan Rough Lounge for traditional football fayre at half-time.

At the end of the game you can again return to the Lounge where you will be able to be part of the post-match Player of the Match presentations.

The cost is £60 (plus VAT) for season ticket holders and £65 (plus VAT) for non-season ticket holders and bookings can be made by emailing [email protected]  or booking online @ Fanbase | Select Tickets

ALISTAIR GRAY

Grasping the Thistle – Alistair Gray Fan Rep Director

Whether you are a lifelong Thistle supporter or new to the Club, the fact that you turn up at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill says something really important: you care.

And that’s the key, the power that fans have. Not just to cheer from the Stands or moan about the ref, but to actually shape the future of our club. To help it grow and to help it thrive.

Because let’s be honest—most Clubs at our level are in a tough spot.

We don’t have multi-million pound TV deals, mega sponsors or global brands behind us but what we do have is something much more meaningful: We Are Thistle.

I’d like to share some practical, realistic ways that all supporters can increase both revenue and attendance—two things that we really need more of.

PTW Sign Goalkeeper

Partick Thistle Women’s FC are delighted to announce the signing of young goalkeeper Lucy MacNair.

The 17-year-old shot stopper came through the academy of Spartans where she featured in the first team squad on a number of occasions before making the move to Alloa Athletic earlier this year.

As well as her footballing talent, Lucy also represents Scotland at Water Polo.

Lucy featured in the last two squads as a trialist but now becomes a fully fledged Jag.
