ST. JOHNSTONE & DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC
NEXT UP: A BUSY WEEK FOR THE JAGS
The Jags are gearing up for a lively spell with two matches in quick succession — first a Saturday showdown with league leaders St. Johnstone, followed by a midweek visit from Dunfermline Athletic. It’s the sort of week that can shape momentum, league position, and belief heading into the winter stretch.
Saturday: Partick Thistle vs St. Johnstone
Saturday 22nd November | 3:00 PM
The Wyre Stadium at Firhill plays host as Thistle welcome St. Johnstone for what promises to be a competitive clash between two sides keen to lay down a marker. With confidence flowing after the spirited performance in the Steven Lawless Testimonial against Premiership St Mirren, the squad will be eager to keep that rhythm going in front of the home support.
Tuesday: Partick Thistle vs Dunfermline Athletic
Tuesday 25th November | 7:45 PM
Just three days later, the Jags are back at it — this time against Dunfermline. Midweek matches at our home always carry a special energy, and with the fixtures coming thick and fast, rotation, sharpness, and squad depth could play big roles. Expect another committed showing as Mark Wilson’s men look to gather momentum and points heading into December.
Before turning the page fully to the week ahead, it’s worth reflecting on a special evening at Firhill.
The Steven Lawless Testimonial Match delivered everything you’d want from a tribute to a modern Thistle favourite — emotion, entertainment, and a Jags win to round it off.
Thistle ran out 2–1 winners over St Mirren, with Lawless himself stepping up to bury a penalty early in the second half, drawing a roar from the Wyre Stadium at Firhill faithful. A late thunderbolt from Scott Martin sealed the comeback, capping off a night full of warmth, applause, and no shortage of attacking intent.
The match also marked important minutes for several returning faces, including Lee Ashcroft and Scott Martin as the squad continues to grow stronger and deeper.
With spirits high and performances trending in the right direction, the Jags head into this double-header stretch with plenty of belief — and the West End behind them every step of the way.

GEORGE MORRIS
George Morris - the man who turned on the lights at Firhill
We wish to acknowledge the passing of George Morris who has a unique place in Partick Thistle’s history despite never kicking a ball for the club.
Seventy years ago, George was an apprentice electrician working for John Robertson Electrical Contractors, the company that installed the first floodlights at Firhill. Knowing that he was a diehard supporter of the club he was asked to turn on the floodlights at the ground for the very first time on 14 November 1955 in an Anglo-Scottish Floodlights Cup match against Tottenham Hotspur.
The competition had been created for occasions such as the visit of Spurs and fittingly the first match to be played under the floodlights was won 1-0 by Partick Thistle.

George and his wife Patsy recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary and his family were involved with the club in plans to mark the other 70th anniversary with George switching the floodlights on when Dunfermline Athletic visit this month.
Unfortunately, George, who was an active volunteer in the club’s Memorabilia Group passed away suddenly but peacefully in his 90th year on November 6.
The funeral service will take place at Bishopbriggs Crematorium at 11am on 28th November 2025 followed by refreshments at Firhill.

VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers Needed

With the club hosting two games in the space of three days, with St Johnstone visiting this Saturday and Dunfermline Athletic on Tuesday, we are again asking for volunteers to help have the Wyre Stadium at Firhill ready.
The Thistle community helped out in the clean-up operation following September’s Premier Sports Cup tie against Celtic and we would one again be grateful to anyone that can come along on Monday or Tuesday, or both days next week, to assist.

MOVEMBER
Kenny Arthur is Leading the MOVEMBER CHARGE!

Almost three weeks into Movember and the Partick Thistle Team have overtaken their initial target of £1,800.
A new target of £2,500 is in place, mostly due to the extravagance of Goalkeeping Coach Kenny Arthur’s impressive moustache that we believe deserves some backing.
